ANCHOR

Anchor is an independent, not-for-profit organisation with a proud history of serving Melbourne’s east for more than 40 years.

Anchor assists vulnerable people through services including homeless support, foster care, kinship care, community education and family reconciliation.
In the 2017 financial year, Anchor provided case management to 608 people in need and 1,840 nights of accommodation for people in need.

Together’s partnership with Anchor will help the organisation continue to deliver a range of services, programs and housing support across the Yarra Ranges, Knox and Maroondah regions through a ‘housing first’ approach aligned with the Council to Homeless Persons.

  • Case management to help create nurturing environments for children and young people
  • Programs which support education and life-long learning.

CONCERN AUSTRALIA

Concern Australia is a medium-sized not-for-profit focussed on creating better life outcomes for young people and their families.

Each year Concern Australia connects with more than 30,000 young people aged 5 to 21 through innovative Education; Housing & Homelessness; and Youth Justice programs.

Together’s partnership with Concern Australia will help young people experiencing homelessness or at risk of becoming homeless through an early intervention and prevention approach.

TOGETHER’S ANNUAL PARTNERSHIP WILL FUND –

  • Youth worker outreach to young people in need across Victoria.
  • Responses that meet the immediate needs of young people experiencing homelessness such as crisis accommodation response
  • The establishment of an Emergency Housing Fund for Concern Australia’s STEPS Outreach Service

LONGER TERM, OUR PARTNERSHIP HAS AN AMBITION TO PROVIDE –

  • Up to 150 nights’ crisis accommodation through an Emergency Housing Fund to provide young people living on the streets with a safe place to sleep for the night
  • Six months of respite accommodation for 20 young people in need after exiting care to help reduce their risk of becoming homeless
  • A youth worker specifically designated to assisting 20 young people in need for a period of six months. During the duration of the case management, the youth worker will focus on securing stable, long term accommodation, socially connecting the young person in beneficial social and economic activities as well as supporting them through budgeting or searching for training or employment
  • Together House, a safe space where transitional housing can be provided for young people exiting homelessness
